Communication forms an important element in my work whether it is through language, the written word , visually or the movement of dance. I am particularly interested in capturing a moment in time, one that has left me only shreds of memory. Using printmaking I can treasure this moment, the essence of an emotion, a person or place, something that is so transient can be captured and held in time. I use multiple layers in my prints to play with opacity, tone and relief elements.
I draw inspiration from, and produce work in response to personal experiences of moving from one country to another. In combining my Indian cultural roots with the experience of being a British resident I create work that engages with and invites the audience to connect and reflect together on many shared aspects of all our pasts, presents and futures.
